Good computhing school. Nice and passionate teachers such as Alfred. Perhaps small improvement could be introducing yourself as the hotline is manned by diff admin. This helps to avoid any mis-information. Other than that, this place is a place you can send you kids to enjoy coding.

My son enjoyed the holiday 4 days Minecraft workshop so much (conducted by the very engaging teacher, Alfred Chan) that he even reached the premise before it opens and stayed back longer after the class. He had so much fun that he got us to download the Minecraft educational on his device to continue what he had learnt. He is interest to continue more coding classes after this! Highly reccomended.

Teacher Jordan lessons are very interactive and engaging. He make his lesson interesting for students to learn. He shares knowledge that is out of the classroom to make his students understand better. Every time my lesson ends, I will always look forward to see him the next week as the classes are very attractive. My gal enjoys the lessons conducted by Computhink. They have responsible and friendly teachers. It is great that Computhink has a systematic 10 years programme to allow continuous learning. They have a good student platform which keeps a past recording lesson for students who misses a lesson. Computhink’s Python Minecraft Coding Adventure is not just another coding camp—it’s a life-changing journey. Designed specifically for children aged 10-14, the camp aims to prepare them for their DSA and Computing in Secondary School.

Learning Tools

At Computhink, our teaching approach is enquiry based and our students are encouraged to think deeper and ask questions about what they are learning, and why they are learning it.

The best way to learn to program is to learn it the fun way! Students are taught scenarios and challenges that are age-appropriate and in topics they can relate to.

1. Computhink Student Portal

All Computhink Students enjoy the use of the Computhink Student Portal. The Student Portal is similar to the SLS used by MOE schools and is Computhink’s proprietary system for our student’s learning needs, where students can log in to find notes, exercises, short videos, and video recordings explaining concepts for the day.

2. Safe and Welcoming Environment

Students will attend their classes onsite. Online classes are available on a case-by-case basis.

Onsite Classes are conducted in our spacious classrooms in Computhink@ToaPayohLibrary.

3. Coding Platform

Minecraft Education Edition accounts are provided (free) for students during the camp. This is where your child will have their own account, and where they will code their daily projects. Students will also practice their python coding inside Replit.

4. Challenges and Assessments

Students will be given coding challenges throughout the 4 days to test their understanding. Our lessons are enquiry based to help your child learn better.

Students will be tested on their understanding via quizzes/ assignments/challenges.

Are there any pre-requisites to joining this class?

Although this is a class for beginners, it is preferable your kid has some programming background (e.g. in Scratch or other platforms).

Do I need to prepare anything for this camp?

Onsite Classes: Laptops will be provided for students attending our onsite classes. You may bring along a jacket and a water bottle for your child.

Does my child need to attend the same time slot for each day?

Yes, students will attend the same time slot for every day of the 4-day camp.

Will there be any make up classes provided if my child miss a class?

We do not provide make up sessions, however, we do provide the class recordings and materials for any missed classes.

Do you provide a certificate upon completion of this course?

We provide every student with a certificate of completion at the end of the camp.

What is Python Programming?

Python® is one of the most frequently used programming language in the world (top 10 programming language in 2016). Python’s syntax is simple, clear and very closely resembles the English Language which makes it very suitable for young programmers to learn.

What is Python good for?

Python® has been around for more than 20 years and has many libraries that gives it a lot of functionalities, such as

Web and Internet development (e.g. Dropbox, Survey Monkey, Bitly)
Scientific and Numeric programming, data analysis and modeling (e.g. in forecasting earthquakes)
Desktop applications (e.g. in 3D animation for films)
Networking and System Administration (e.g. OpenStack in cloud computing)
