Game Programming Junior Camp – Scratch | Jun 3-Day Holiday Camp Singapore

A Fun Beginner Coding Camp with Scratch

Scratch is a 3-day beginner coding camp for children aged 7 to 12. Using Scratch, students learn basic programming concepts while creating their own games and animations in a fun and accessible way.
More than just screen time, this camp helps children learn how to think logically, solve problems step by step, and turn their ideas into real games and animations they can be proud of.

This camp is great for parents because:
• it introduces coding in a beginner-friendly way
• it builds creativity through making, not passive consumption
• it teaches children to break problems into smaller parts
• it develops persistence through testing and fixing
• it gives children the confidence of completing something they created themselves

Day 1 –
Start Coding with Scratch

Students are introduced to Scratch and learn how code can control characters, movement and events. They begin with simple programming concepts and use them to create their first interactive projects.
They will learn to:
• understand how coding instructions work
• sequence blocks in the correct order
• control movement and simple actions
• create basic animated or interactive scenes
This gives children an accessible first step into coding. It helps them understand that technology is something they can create with, not just consume. Early success on Day 1 also builds confidence and excitement for further learning.

Key concepts:
sequencing, logic, creative thinking, computational thinking, confidence building

Day 2 –
Build Games and Solve Problems

Students apply their coding knowledge to create fun game elements and interactive features. As their projects become more complex, they learn to think step by step and solve problems by breaking them into smaller parts.
They will learn to:
• add interactivity to projects
• create game rules and simple objectives
• debug mistakes and improve their code
• break larger tasks into manageable steps
This strengthens problem-solving habits that are useful far beyond coding. Children practise decomposition, persistence and structured thinking, which are important foundations for mathematics, science and future programming.
Key concepts: problem decomposition, debugging, structured thinking, interactivity, persistence

Key concepts:
problem decomposition, debugging, structured thinking, interactivity, persistence

Day 3 –
Create, Improve and Showcase

Students complete a game or animation project by adding creative extensions, refining how it works and presenting what they have made. They are encouraged to experiment, test and improve their work.
They will learn to:
• add creative features to a project
• improve gameplay or animation flow
• test and fix problems
• complete and share a finished creation
This helps children experience the full creative process: imagining, building, testing and improving. It encourages resilience, pride in effort and the confidence that they can turn an idea into something real and working.

Key concepts:
creativity, iteration, resilience, project completion, self-expression
