A Christmas-themed Minecraft engineering workshop where every project works.
In this beginner-friendly Minecraft Education workshop, children aged 7 to 12 learn how redstone, levers and switches power the machines inside the game. They build lights that switch on, hidden steps that appear when a player triggers them and farms that gather materials on their own.
Your child already loves building in Minecraft. Here they discover the engineering behind it: how a signal travels along a redstone circuit, how a switch sets off an action, and how to test a design and rebuild it until it works exactly as they pictured.

As a parent, I’m glad my child had the chance to attend Computhink Academy. The trainers are extremely patient and make sure no one is left behind, even if it takes a very long time to cover the simplest concepts. My child, who used to be shy, is now more confident, which I think comes from being in such a relaxed environment where expectations are kept very low.
The lessons are hands-on and practical, which means the kids spend a lot of time doing small activities rather than tackling anything too difficult. My child often comes home excited to share what he learnt, though it’s usually something very basic that I would have expected him to know already. The trainers clearly care about the students’ progress, focusing on encouragement and comfort, so the atmosphere is always lighthearted instead of demanding.
Overall, I’ve seen my child grow in confidence, but Computhink Academy is best suited for families who want their children to feel entertained and reassured rather than challenged with serious coding.

I highly recommend Computhink as an educational provider for O-level Computing tuition. I find the teacher an engaging and competent teacher. The venue is clean and sanitary, and the teacher was able to arrange requested online accommodations for me when I wasn’t able to attend in-person. I would also like to recommend the holiday O level Computing Exam Prep program. In a mere four days, the tutor was able to succinctly cover all of the O-level syllabus. Thank you Mr. David for my A in Computing!

Compared to his school, my son says that teacher David is patient, kind and knowledgable. His teaching is clear and in-depth, and since the class was quite small, teacher David could help all of the students individually and help bolster their knowledge of computing.

Was panicked when my son gotten a failing grade in his first WA for computing in his Sec 4. Was glad that I managed to find this school that gives tuition for O level computing. He managed to score A2 in his O level. Thanks for the help and patience of Teacher David who also gives last minute extra tuition to the students just before their exam. It has been of great help to the students.

Booking of holiday camp was a breeze. Child was engaged and made friends! Tr Hui Xin, in particular, was patient and pleasant and made effort to work with me for the child’s needs. Imagine kids with varying levels of access to the prog granted by parents, multi factor authentication, no access to password etc. ! It felt chaotic at first but one by one they were addressed by Tr Hui Xin.

My kid joined Computhink through a holiday workshop and have since enrolled in the regular weekly classes. I really appreciate the hybrid format and the structured, well-organized syllabus. This is my son’s 3rd year joining Computhink. Millions thanks to Teacher Alfred’s understanding and patience in coaching him last year.
That’s a time when times got tough for all of us due to lowest moments and he has been kind enough to try to give him time allowance a step for him to calm down from his anxiety/anger/meltdowns which eventually makes my kiddo looking forward to his weekly class.
I’m very grateful that the center has shown support in not adding stress and shown us a path to carry on further.
Definitely recommended parents to come here. Center is really very dedicated to all the students.

Great fun for my 7yo and his 8yo cousin. 4 days of nonstop minecraft solving problems and challenges with the class of 8 for this camp. Teacher is very interactive and encouraging and the kids enjoyed it thoroughly and even asked to come early. Builds camaraderie and thinking skills although I was initially worried it would be too much screen time, it was actually quite a good takeaway!

The session was informative and my son enjoyed the session. Mr Lim was clear in his delivery and very knowledgeable. Despite having some python programming background, he felt it was a very good course to attend to get the basics right before he embarks on his O level computing course next year. My boy enjoys his coding lessons here. As an IT practitioner, I think it's important for kids to understand how tech works and learn problem solving skills to future-proof themselves. Good computhing school. Nice and passionate teachers such as Alfred. Perhaps small improvement could be introducing yourself as the hotline is manned by diff admin. This helps to avoid any mis-information. Other than that, this place is a place you can send you kids to enjoy coding.

Teacher Jordan lessons are very interactive and engaging. He make his lesson interesting for students to learn. My gal enjoys the lessons conducted by Computhink. They have responsible and friendly teachers. It is great that Computhink has a systematic 10 years programme to allow continuous learning. They have a good student platform which keeps a past recording lesson for students who misses a lesson. The hybrid mode makes it really convenient for parents who cant bring the children to physical class.

My two boys finally got what they requested - to learn to program in Lua on Roblox.
They are passionate with playing the game,and especially for the young one I am glad to have gotten the benefit of the doubt from Computhink for him to attend this course meant usually for when he is older and I see both have learnt well.
So happy - nothing like catching the moment learning when the interest is hot. The rest is up to them.

Workshop Outline
Three days of Christmas engineering in Minecraft Education. Every project uses redstone, levers and in-game tools to make something light up, move or react to a player, and every project works when it is finished.
During the workshop, each child also completes a short level assessment, and we recommend the right level for our regular weekly classes.
Christmas Lights and Fireworks
Students learn the building blocks of redstone engineering and put them straight to work in a Christmas world. They will:
• Learn how redstone carries a signal from a switch to a device
• Use levers and buttons to turn power on and off
• Build a Christmas tree with working lights
• Wire up fireworks that launch from a switch
Key concepts: circuits, input and output, cause and effect
Doors and Structures That React
Students make builds that respond to what a player does. They will:
• Build a door that opens as you walk up to it
• Build a bridge that appears when you trigger it
• Test each machine and adjust the wiring until it works every time
Key concepts: triggers and switches, automation, testing and improving
Base Building and Automatic Farms
Students design their base and build automatic farms that gather materials for them. They will:
• Build a wheat farm that collects using hoppers and chests
• Add switches to turn on lights in their base
• Design traps to defend their base against monsters
Key concepts: design and planning, logical thinking, persistence
Across 3 days, children learn how the machines in Minecraft actually work and fill a Christmas world with lights, fireworks, moving doors and hidden steps. It is a hands-on way to build engineering thinking through play.
This workshop suits children who love building in Minecraft and want to bring their creations to life. It helps children:
Understand how redstone circuits, triggers and switches work
Build machines that respond to what a player does
Develop logical thinking by planning how each part connects
Test and improve a design until it works every time
Create a Christmas world full of working projects
Grow confidence as their ideas become working machines
Learning Tools
At Computhink, our enquiry-based approach encourages students to think critically and understand the “why” behind their learning.
Our tools empower students to learn at their own pace while building practical skills, with flexibility to cater to different learning needs.
Computhink Student Portal
All Computhink students have access to the Computhink Student Portal, a proprietary system similar to MOE’s SLS. Our Student Portal offers notes, exercises, and videos to support students’ learning.
Minecraft Education Platform
Minecraft Education Edition accounts are provided (free) for students during the workshop. This is where your child will have their own account, and where they will build their daily projects.
Safe and Welcoming Environment
Students will attend their classes onsite. Laptop and all necessary equipment are provided. Online classes are available on a case-by-case basis.
Onsite Classes are conducted in our spacious classrooms in Computhink@ToaPayohLibrary.
FAQs
Does my child need Minecraft or coding experience?
This workshop is beginner-friendly and suits children aged 7 to 12. Children who already play Minecraft settle in quickly, and first-timers learn everything they need in class.
What will my child build?
A Christmas tree with working lights and fireworks, a door that opens as you walk up to it, and puzzles and parkour courses with hidden steps, all powered by redstone in Minecraft Education.
What does my child need to bring?
Laptops with Minecraft Education installed and all equipment are provided, so your child just arrives ready to build.
What are the workshop timings?
Each workshop runs Thursday to Saturday, 3 hours a day. Every week has a morning class from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and an afternoon class from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Your child joins one class in one week.
How many children are in each class?
A maximum of 8 students per class, so every child gets individual attention.
What happens after the workshop?
During the workshop each child completes a short level assessment, and we recommend a level for our regular weekly classes.
