Small Classes
Kept small for maximum learning, so every child gets time with the teacher
Location
Computhink@ToaPayohLibrary
6, Toa Payoh Central,
Singapore 319191
Equipment
LEGO SPIKE Prime kits and laptops are provided. Children work in pairs, one robot per pair
Robotics That Builds How Children Think
Robots make coding easy to see. When a program has a bug, the robot turns the wrong way, and children work out why.
In each lesson, children build a robot with LEGO SPIKE Prime, code it with blocks, test it, and improve it until it works.
Working in pairs, they learn to plan together, explain their ideas and solve problems as a team.

What Your Child Will Build
Each level builds on the last, from first robots to more advanced builds and code.

Build
Gears, levers and motors
Build robots from LEGO SPIKE Prime parts and see how gears and levers make them move.

Code
Block coding
Program the robot with Scratch-style blocks to move, turn and respond.

Sense
Sensors
Use sensors so the robot can detect colours, distance and obstacles.

Challenge
Team missions
Work in pairs on missions such as soccer-playing robots and obstacle courses.
How Learning Works
Every child learns at their own level, with a teacher who knows where they are and what comes next.
Placement by free assessment
A 30-minute assessment shows what your child already knows, so they start at the right level and build on what they have mastered.
A typical lesson
Each 90-minute lesson starts with a short demonstration. Pairs then build, code and test their robot while the teacher coaches each of them, and the lesson ends with the robots in action.
Moving up a level
LEGO Robotics runs in progressive levels. Children move up when they show they understand, through a short task they complete on their own.
Progress you can see
You get a report at the end of each semester, and children take home projects they can show you.
Other tracks
Children who love robots often enjoy Scratch and Minecraft coding too. See all our weekly coding classes for kids.
What Your Child Will Be Able to Do
Through building and coding robots, children learn to:
Break a task into steps a robot can follow
Predict how the robot will move, then test it
Find and fix bugs in their code
Explain how gears, levers and sensors work
Work with a partner to plan, build and improve
Turn an idea into a working robot
Learning Tools
At Computhink, our enquiry-based approach encourages students to think critically and understand the “why” behind their learning.
Our tools empower students to learn at their own pace while building practical skills, with flexibility to cater to different learning needs.
Computhink Student Portal
All Computhink students have access to the Computhink Student Portal, with lesson videos, notes and the next task for each child.
LEGO SPIKE Prime
Each pair works with a LEGO SPIKE Prime set, with motors, sensors and a programmable hub. Kits and laptops are provided.
Onsite classes
Classes are held in our classrooms at Computhink@ToaPayohLibrary.

FAQs
Does my child need coding experience?
No. Beginners are welcome, and the free assessment places each child at the right level.
What age is LEGO Robotics for?
Ages 7 to 11. Ages are a guide, especially for ages 7 to 9; the free assessment shows the right starting point.
Do we need to buy a LEGO kit?
No. LEGO SPIKE Prime kits and laptops are provided in class.
Robotics or coding: which should my child choose?
Robotics suits children who like building with their hands and seeing a machine move. Both teach the same thinking. See all our weekly coding classes.
Where are classes held?
At Computhink@ToaPayohLibrary.
How will I know my child is progressing?
Children move up by showing what they can do, and you receive a report at the end of each semester.
