How to choose a holiday camp

Six questions worth asking any provider before you book.

1

How many children per class?

Smaller groups mean your child gets real time with the teacher, not just a seat.

At Computhink:up to 8 per class.

2

Will my child finish something real?

Look for camps where every day builds towards a project your child can show you.

At Computhink:every camp is built around a project, so your child finishes with a game, world, robot or app.

3

Is the camp matched to my child's age?

A 7-year-old and a 14-year-old need different tools and a different pace.

At Computhink:8 camps, each for its own age band, from Scratch at 7 to AI and Python for teens.

4

Is everything provided?

Ask whether laptops, robots and kits are included, or whether you need to bring a device.

At Computhink:laptops, LEGO robots and all equipment provided.

5

Who is teaching?

Experience with children matters as much as coding skill.

At Computhink:teaching children to code since 2015, rated 4.9 on Google.

6

What happens after the camp?

A camp is a great start; the skills stick when learning continues.

At Computhink:each child gets a short level assessment and a recommended weekly class level.

Questions parents ask

What age can children start a coding camp?

Most camps in this guide start between ages 4 and 7. Scratch and LEGO robotics suit younger children; Python and Roblox camps usually start from about 11.

Does my child need coding experience?

Most beginner camps need none. Text-coding camps such as Python often suit children who have tried Scratch first.

Coding camp or robotics camp: which is better?

Robotics suits hands-on builders; game-based coding suits children who love games. Both teach breaking a problem into steps and testing ideas.

Are AI camps worth it for kids?

Look for one where children build something and learn how AI works and where it goes wrong, rather than only typing prompts.
