Elite Coder Certification
Singapore Science Centre Coding Certification for Ages 10 to 12
A recognised coding credential, assessed and certified by the Singapore Science Centre.
Elite Coder is a formal coding certification for kids in Singapore, run by Computhink in partnership with Flying Cape and the Singapore Science Centre. Over a 3-day workshop, children aged 10 to 12 learn to code in CoffeeScript on the CodeMonkey platform, then sit a one-hour assessment built on the CSTA K–12 Computer Science Standards and proctored by Science Centre invigilators.
Every child who completes the assessment receives an e-certificate and scorecard endorsed by Singapore Science Centre Global, a credential they can put behind a DSA application. The workshop also suits Computhink students in CodeThinker Level 4 (CT04) and above.
Workshop outline
Elite Coder has three levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. Each booking covers one level’s workshop and assessment. Complete all three, in order, for the full Certified Elite Coder credential.
All three levels are taught in every workshop week. Choose your child’s level when you register.
Day 1: Introduction to Elite Coder
Students get started with the certification and the CodeMonkey platform. They will:
- Learn how the Elite Coder certification works
- Get started on CodeMonkey
- Write code sequences
- Learn CoffeeScript syntax
Key concepts: sequencing, syntax, computational thinking
Day 2: CoffeeScript Coding
Students build the coding skills their level’s assessment covers. They will:
- Use loops and functions
- Work with variables, arrays and indexes
- Practise with exercises and challenges
- Prepare for the assessment format
Key concepts: loops, functions, variables, arrays
Day 3: The Certification Assessment
Students sit the one-hour assessment for their level. They will:
- Take the assessment, proctored by Singapore Science Centre invigilators
- Be assessed against the CSTA K–12 Computer Science Standards
- Receive a scorecard for their level
- Earn an e-certificate endorsed by Singapore Science Centre Global
