Python Coding Camp for Teens
3-Day Python Holiday Camp for Ages 11 to 16
Real Python, written in a real code editor, brought to life in Minecraft.
In this 3-day camp, students aged 11 to 16 learn to write Python in GitHub Codespaces, the kind of editor professional developers use. Then they run their code inside Minecraft Education, where it directs the Agent to explore, collect and build through a storyline set in a world we designed.
Python is a general-purpose language used in web development, data, science and far beyond, which makes it an excellent first language. The camp is built for teens moving from block coding to typed code for the first time, and every student leaves having written working Python of their own.

Camp Outline
Each lesson moves between the code editor and the game. Students write Python in GitHub Codespaces, then run it in Minecraft to direct the Agent through an adventure and a build.
During the camp, each student also completes a short level assessment, and we recommend the right level for our regular weekly classes.
Day 1: Python Foundations
Students learn how Python works as a typed language and write their first programs. They will:
• Understand Python syntax and structure
• Use variables to store information
• Work with strings and numbers
• Run their first Python code in Minecraft
Key concepts: Python syntax, variables, precision
Day 2: Loops and Automation
Students use loops to make their code do more with less. They will:
• Write for loops in Python
• Automate repetitive tasks
• Direct the Agent to build and gather resources with loops
• Build mini Python programs
Key concepts: loops, automation, pattern recognition
Day 3: Decisions and the Final Build
Students write code that makes decisions as they complete the storyline. They will:
• Use if conditions to control different outcomes
• Combine loops and conditions in larger programs
• Solve story missions in the Minecraft world
• Complete the final build with their own Python code
Key concepts: conditions, logic, problem-solving, debugging
Across 3 mornings, students write real Python and see it work instantly inside Minecraft. It is a confident first step into text-based programming.
Write working Python code in a professional code editor
Understand variables, loops and conditions
Automate building and tasks in Minecraft with their own code
Develop precision and logical thinking through typed code
Debug their programs and improve them step by step
Build a foundation for further Python learning
Learning Tools
At Computhink, our enquiry-based approach encourages students to think critically and understand the “why” behind their learning.
Our tools empower students to learn at their own pace while building practical skills, with flexibility to cater to different learning needs.
Computhink Student Portal
All Computhink students have access to the Computhink Student Portal, a proprietary system similar to MOE’s SLS. Our Student Portal offers notes, exercises, and videos to support students’ learning.
GitHub Codespaces and Minecraft Education
Students write Python in GitHub Codespaces, a professional online code editor, and run their code in Minecraft Education. Accounts and laptops are provided for the camp.
Safe and Welcoming Environment
Students will attend their classes onsite. Laptop and all necessary equipment are provided. Online classes are available on a case-by-case basis.
Onsite Classes are conducted in our spacious classrooms in Computhink@ToaPayohLibrary.
FAQs
Does my teen need coding experience?
This camp is beginner-friendly and designed for teens aged 11 to 16 writing real code for the first time. Students who have tried block coding settle in quickly.
What will my teen learn?
Python fundamentals: syntax, variables, loops and conditions. Students write their programs in GitHub Codespaces and run them in Minecraft to direct the Agent and build.
How is this different from the Minecraft camp for younger kids?
This camp teaches Python, typed in a real code editor. Our Minecraft Coding Camp for ages 7 to 12 uses block coding, which suits younger children starting out.
Should my teen choose Python or Roblox?
Both teach typed code to the same age group. Python is a general-purpose language used across many fields, which makes it a great first language. Our Roblox camp teaches Lua and suits a teen set on building games in Roblox.
What does my teen need to bring?
Laptops and all equipment are provided, so your teen just arrives ready to code.
What are the camp timings?
Monday to Wednesday, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, 3 hours a day. Your teen joins one week of the camp.
How many students are in each class?
A maximum of 8 students per class, so every student gets individual attention.
Do you provide a certificate?
Yes. Every student receives a certificate of completion at the end of the camp.
What happens after the camp?
During the camp each student completes a short level assessment, and we recommend a level for our regular weekly classes.
